Description of Integrated Corridor Management Roadmap

This Gantt chart shows the schedule for five tasks for the last two quarters (Q3 and Q4) of Fiscal Year (FY) 04 and each quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) of FY 05, 06, 07, 08, 09, and 10:
- Phase 1: Foundational Research
- Phase 2: Operations and Systems Development
- Phase 3: Model Deployment
- Phase 4: Knowledge and Technology Transfer
- Standards Development and Maintenance (throughout)
Q2 is defined as months 1-3, Q3 as months 4-6, Q4 as months 7-9, and Q1 as months 10-12.
The overall outcome for these tasks is:
- Widespread use of Integrated Corridor Management Tools and Strategies.
For Phase 1: Foundational Research, the subtasks shown are:
- Establish and Engage Multimodal Stakeholder Working Group (e.g. AASHTO, APTA, ITS America Forums, ITE, Practitioners) from the beginning of Q4 FY 04 through Q4 FY 10.
- Develop Draft Program Plan for Stakeholder Review from the beginning of Q3 FY 04 to mid-Q2 FY 05.
- Develop Concept of Operations from the beginning of Q4 FY 04 to near the end of Q4 FY 05.
- Document Successful Local Integration Efforts from the beginning of Q2 to near the end of Q4 FY 05.
- Identify Corridor Types and Operational Approaches from the beginning of Q2 to near the end of Q4 FY 05.
- Identify Operational Strategies and Analysis Tools from near the end of Q2 to near the end of Q4 FY 05.
- Derive Requirements from the beginning of Q3 through Q4 FY 05.
- Revise Program Plan from mid-Q3 FY 05 to mid-Q1 FY 06.
- Revisit Program Plan as necessary from the end of Q2 FY 06 to mid-Q1 FY 07.
For Phase 2: Operations and Systems Development, the subtasks shown are:
- Develop Alternative Shared Operations Management Schemes from the beginning of Q1 FY 06 through Q4 FY 08.
- Develop Cross Network Operational Strategies and Analysis Tool Modifications from the beginning of Q1 FY 06 through Q4 FY 08.
- Develop System Interfaces and Integrated Operations Processes from the beginning of Q1 FY 06 through Q4 FY 08.
- Laboratory and Limited Field Testing of Component Integration Interfaces and Operations from the beginning of Q2 FY 06 through Q1 FY 09.
For Phase 3: Model Deployment, the subtasks shown are:
- Define Preliminary ICM Model Deployment from the beginning of Q1 through Q4 FY 06.
- Model Deployment Candidate Sites Selection from near the beginning of Q1 to mid-Q4 FY 06.
- Candidate Sites Working Group from mid-Q4 FY 06 to mid-Q4 FY 07.
- Model Deployment Implementation from the beginning of Q1 FY 08 through Q4 FY 09.
- Model Deployment Evaluation from the beginning of Q1 FY 08 through Q4 FY 09.
- The milestone Pre-Model Deployment Workshop is scheduled for mid-Q1 FY 06.
- The milestone Model Deployment Selection is scheduled for the end of Q4 FY 07.
For Phase 4: Knowledge and Technology Transfer, the subtasks shown are:
- Pre-Model Deployment Knowledge and Technology Transfer from the beginning of Q1 FY 06 through Q4 FY 07.
- Develop ICM Knowledge and Technology Transfer Materials from the beginning of Q1 FY 09 through Q2 FY 10.
- ICM Knowledge and Technology Transfer from the beginning of Q1 FY 09 through Q4 FY 10.
- The milestone Preliminary Briefing is scheduled for the beginning of Q3 FY 05.
- Decision point no. 1 – Are there sufficient integration issues and likelihood of success to justify further work? – is scheduled for the end of Q4 FY 05.
- Decision point no. 2 – Do we know enough about corridor operations requirements and tools to have an effective model deployment? – is scheduled for the end of Q4 FY 07.
For Standards Development and Maintenance (throughout), the action shown is:
- Standards Completion, Deployment, and Updates from the beginning of Q3 FY 04 through Q4 FY 10.
