The human factors research briefs for each of the eight major IVI problem areas and the two cross-cutting areas can be accessed by clicking the corresponding boxes in the table above. Each brief summarizes the human factors issues being examined for each problem.

In general, the IVI program focuses on the more significant safety problem categories as indicated by statistical analyses of crash data. Additionally, the IVI program includes countermeasures for these problem areas for platforms other than passenger cars.

Platforms such as commercial vehicles, transit buses, and specialty vehicles have specific safety needs, offer unique opportunities to test and evaluate countermeasures, and are often early implementers of advanced technologies. IVI projects are addressing problems that are more suited to rapid deployment in some platforms before others and some problems are more germane to a specific platform. There are cross-cutting issues being addressed across all platforms.
