WEBINAR DETAILS

Overview of the Dynamic Mobility Applications Program
July 20, 2011
1:00 pm ET

This webinar will provide an overview of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Dynamic Mobility Applications (DMA) program.  The DMA program is concluding a first phase of activity focused on foundational research and moving into a second phase focused on applications development and testing, initiating coordinated research activities on a portfolio of ten high-priority mobility applications.  The DMA program is partnering with the research community to further develop these transformative concepts and to refine data and communications needs.   This webinar will give an overview of this body of work.

Road Weather Management and the Connected Vehicle
July 27, 2011
1:00pm ET

This webinar will review the progress made under the Road Weather Management program, focusing on its ties to the connected vehicle.  Highlights will include an overview of the Vehicle Data Translator (VDT) – software that processes and quality checks the data coming from vehicles and turns the data into useable weather and road condition observations.  Field tests to collect data to feed into the VDT will be described, as will the VDT’s link to other Road Weather Management efforts, such as the Clarus Initiative and MDSS (Maintenance Decision Support System).  The role that connected vehicles will play to support weather-responsive traffic management will also be described.  More information about the Road Weather Management program can be found at:  http://www.ops.fhwa.dot.gov/weather/index.asp

Real-Time Data Capture and Management Program Research Data Exchange (RDE) Concept of Operations Review
August 10, 2011
1:00pm ET

This webinar will provide an overview of the recently developed Concept of Operations for the ITS Real-Time Data Capture and Management Program Research Data Exchange.  The primary purpose of the Research Data Exchange (RDE) is to provide a variety of data-related services that support the development, testing, and demonstration of multi-modal transportation mobility applications being pursued under the U.S. DOT ITS Dynamic Mobility Applications (DMA) Program.  Some of the data related services include: hosting archived and real-time data, linking to federated external data environments, and providing forums for user interaction.  Data hosted by the RDE will be free and open to the community at large.  An electronic version of the draft RDE Concept of Operations will be provided prior to the webinar so that in addition to an overview, an opportunity for feedback will be provided

Real-Time Data Capture and Management State of the Practice Assessment and Innovations Scan Overview
August 17, 2011
1:00 pm ET

This webinar will provide an overview of the Real-Time Data Capture and Management State of the Practice Assessment and Innovations Scan. Highlights will include state of practice in data capture and management methods and technologies in transportation (light vehicles, transit, and freight) and other fields; and to identify existing and emerging methods across a broad spectrum of industries. Specific recommendations as to which techniques are most applicable to connected vehicle, both for capturing data and managing/reporting may also be covered in the webinar.
