GA DOT Metropolitan ITS Integration (MITSI) Project
Challenge: Determine when and how Georgia’s “NaviGAtor” system will be converted to emerging ITS Standards Architecture.
Peer: Joel Markowitz (Metropolitan Transportation Commission)
- Reviewed and commented on a consultant’s understanding of national standards and their proposal as to how to achieve ITS Architecture compliance.
- Participated in a Blue Ribbon Team meeting where consultant presented proposed plan, which led to a questions and answers session.
- This was an excellent example of system developers being confronted with a “knowledge gap” due to evolving National Standards.
Outcome: Peer provided expert guidance that corrected misperceptions about the content and intent of the National ITS Standards. GADOT obtained clear view of next steps & final objectives.
