capability, these devices only broadcast and do not receive
messages
□Broadcast
a single type of message in the form of the Basic Safety
Message (BSM) (SAE standard J2735, Dedicated Short Range
Communications (DSRC) Message Set Dictionary)
□Does not
have a working human-machine interface (HMI)
§Aftermarket Safety Device
(light vehicles)
□A device
safely installed in the vehicle such that it does not distract
the driver, cannot void the vehicle’s warranty, or cause harmful
effects to the vehicle
□The
device provides working safety applications (continued)
