•Bullets #1 and #2 are statistics based on FARS (Fatality Analysis Reporting System) maintained by NHTSA
•Bullet #3 is based on a 2007 study by Booz Allen Hamilton for FTA “Assessing the Business Case for Integrated Collision Avoidance Systems on Transit Buses”

NOT IN ORDER OF PRIORITY
•#1 (Angle Crashes) 42% of fatal crashes and 30% of non-fatal crashes were angle crashes.  •#2 (Left-turn, heading-on crashes) 13% of fatal crashes and 20% of non-fatal crashes were left-turn head-on crashes •#3 (Light-rail grade crossing crashes) Nearly 60% of all light rail – motor vehicle crashes involved motor vehicles turning left (either traveling on the same, or opposite direction). •#4 (Rear-end crashes) accounted for 37% of total fatal crashes and 41% of total non-fatal crashes •#5 and #6 will be developed as part of the Safety Pilot Model Deployment
