Where is AASHTO today?
•Our future vehicle world – we can begin to see it now; consequently we:
§Need clarification of the opportunities and obligations there are for the states
§Need to start engaging more of the state and local agency decision makers in a deployment discussion.

Vehicles  with adaptive cruise control, lane departure systems, backup cameras, electronic stability control and broadcasting the BSM at a minimum,

So what does all this information mean to the agencies and what are the opportunities and obligations to be prepared and to participate?

We are only 1 ½ years away from a potential NHTSA agency decision, consequently, the AASHTO leadership community needs to begin to get more serious about having a discussion on  potential deployment of infrastructure.
