U.S. Department of Transportation to Host the Situation Data Warehouse Project Webinar
The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office (ITS JPO) is hosting a free webinar to update the public on an open source connected vehicle data exchange project. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm ET.
BACKGROUND
The Situation Data Warehouse (SDW) is an open source proof-of-concept data exchange system developed to assist early adopters in testing and deploying interoperable connected vehicle technologies and to facilitate data sharing at a national scale.
The SDW was designed as a scalable Platform as a Service using open source software in a cloud environment. It allows users to deposit situational data for use with connected vehicles and later query that data for wide area distribution. The U.S. DOT sponsored development and maintenance of the system as an enabler for the Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment Program and other early deployers of connected vehicle technology. The software is now available for others to use and modify to support their own connected vehicle deployments and services.
WEBINAR DETAILS
This webinar will provide an overview of how the SDW was developed, including a high-level view of the system architecture, deployment, and outputs. The target audience for this webinar includes software developers and researchers involved in intelligent transportation and data-management technologies, ITS program managers at the state and local level, agencies contemplating connected and automated vehicle deployments, transportation agency CIOs, and anyone interested in improving transportation data availability.
