Request for Information Connected Vehicle - Next Stage Certification Environment

The ITS Joint Program Office has just released a Request for Information in FedBizOps (  under the solicitation number: Connected_Vehicle_NextStage_Certification.  We are seeking information and comments that will be used to help establish a future certification environment for devices and applications that leverage wireless communications for the transportation environment (e.g. 75 MHz of radio spectrum at the 5.9 GHz frequency dedicated for transportation safety and mobility purposes, referred to as Dedicated Short Range Communications [DSRC], and 3G, 4G, LTE, etc.). The FHWA is issuing this RFI in collaboration with other agencies within the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT), specifically the Federal Transit Administration, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Research and Innovative Technology Administration.  The USDOT intends to use the feedback provided through this RFI to guide a potential Request for Proposals (RFP) to establish the end system certification process that accommodates the needs and potential applications of the connected vehicle research program.  Responses are due by 2pm on September 6.
