The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) Offers a Free Webinar on the Architecture Reference for Cooperative and Intelligent Transportation

The USDOT’s Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Professional Capacity Building Program will host a free Talking Technology and Transportation webinar on the integration of the National ITS Architecture, version 7.1 with the Connected Vehicle Reference Implementation Architecture into one reference architecture. The webinar, “ARC-IT V8: A Live Demonstration,” is scheduled for Thursday, August 17, 2017, from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm EST.

Background

The Architecture Reference for Cooperative and Intelligent Transportation (ARC-IT) provides a common framework for planning, defining, and integrating ITS. It is a mature product that reflects the contributions of a broad cross-section of the ITS community (transportation practitioners, systems engineers, system developers, technology specialists, consultants, etc.). All the content of the Architecture is available on one website (http://local.iteris.com/arc-it/).

Join the USDOT and the Architecture team for a webinar to learn about the integration of the National ITS Architecture, version 7.1 with the Connected Vehicle Reference Implementation Architecture into one reference architecture. The webinar’s objective is to familiarize attendees with the ARC-IT content so that they apply the architecture and its toolset to develop, update, and maintain regional architectures as well as apply the ARC-IT concepts to support systems engineering efforts on ITS projects.

Webinar Overview

Steve Sill, the USDOT ITS Architecture and Standards Program Manager, will introduce the webinar.

David Binkley, Senior Systems Engineer at Iteris, will present the background of the architecture and its purposes. He will also demonstrate how to access and use the website to learn about the architecture and its components. Additionally, David will introduce the two software tools that have been developed to apply the architecture to regions and projects:

  • Regional Architecture Development for Intelligent Transportation (RAD-IT)
  • Systems Engineering Tool for Intelligent Transportation (SET-IT).

The webinar will end with an online Question and Answer session.
