Upcoming Webinar on Next Generation 9-1-1, FirstNet, and Connected Vehicles and Their Importance to Transportation Public Safety

The U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) will host a free public webinar on Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG 9-1-1), the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (FirstNet), and connected vehicles and why these emerging technologies are important to public safety responders on roadway incidents and the public who live, work, and travel in the United States. The webinar will be held on Tuesday, May 14, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm ET.

This webinar explores the history of and vision for NG 9-1-1, FirstNet, and connected vehicles and presents an overall picture of where these technologies are today and what the near future holds.

The course aims to:

  • Promote understanding of NG 9-1-1
  • Promote understanding of the vision for FirstNet
  • Enhance awareness of connected vehicles' impact on incident response
  • Promote support for advancing NG 9-1-1, FirstNet, and connected vehicles for public safety.
