U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg Will Kick Off the 2022 Automated Road Transportation Symposium

U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg will open the 2022 Automated Road Transportation Symposium (ARTS22)! Secretary Buttigieg will kick off the 4-day event with a recorded keynote speech welcoming attendees and highlighting federal efforts to progress critical topics in automating road transportation.

In addition to Secretary Buttigieg, ARTS22 will feature several other U.S. Department of Transportation (U.S. DOT) senior leadership as keynote speakers. See the details below.

Earl James, Jr., Chief Counsel for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, will deliver a keynote address on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. Mr. James will discuss how automated driving system trucks can improve road safety.

Dr. Steven Cliff, Administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), will deliver a keynote address on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 8:15 am PT. Dr. Cliff will discuss NHTSA's efforts with automating road transportation.

Dr. Robert Hampshire, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology, will deliver a keynote address on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 8:15 am PT. Dr. Hampshire will update attendees on current and planned U.S. DOT automation research.
