ITS JPO Seeks Comments on Core Systems Concept of Operations

The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking comments on a draft  Concept of Operations (ConOps) of the Core System for the United States Department of Transportation‘s (USDOT) next generation integrated transportation system.

The USDOT initiated this Systems Engineering (SE) project to define the ConOps, requirements, and architecture for a system that will enable safety, mobility, and environmental applications in an environment where vehicles and personal mobile devices are connected wirelessly, hereafter referred to as the connected vehicle environment. This ConOps is a user-oriented document describing characteristics of a to-be-delivered system from the user‘s viewpoint. It includes a detailed description of how an operational concept is applied, with corresponding interactions and information flows between system elements and actors. It identifies the functions carried out by the system, users that interact with the sys-tem, their roles and responsibilities.
